This stunning Vera scarf is a rare find indeed. This Vera scarf was made in the late 1940s from the silk of surplus WWII parachutes. When Vera first started her business right after WWII, she went to the local Army surplus store and purchased a large number of surplus parachutes so she could recycle the silk into her beautiful scarves.
This is one of the few remaining scarves made from this marvelous parachute silk that has lasted over 70 years and is still in excellent condition. This marvelous scarf also has the unique feature of handsewn sequins that are located in the center of the four pinwheels and also there are three located in each corner of the scarf. All of the sequins are present and in excellent condition.
Original label is still attached and reads " scarves by Vera" , "Patent Pending", "Pure Silk-Handrolled". This Pink and Gray scarf is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or stains. It has a handrolled hem along with the handsewn sequins which had to have been sewn on by Vera herself since this scarf was hand screened when Vera was just starting her business on her kitchen table.
