This great jacket has a very simple outline with lattice design detailing added. This jacket can be made either very conservative or really wild. It can be made without the lattice detailing by ignoring the lattice cutting line.

On the kimono collar you can choose to only partially sew the band down leaving the end loose to be tied. You can choose a soft fabric but you need to choose one with enough weight so the jacket does not drop from the weight of the lattice detailing. You can make the lattice work detailing from a variety of materials including ribbon, trims, embellished or quilted pieces. The width of the lattice can vary from 1/4" to as wide as 2". The lattice spacing can be made very close or as far as 1" apart. The lattice strips can be arranged parallel in x's or v"s.

This Balboa Park Pattern No. 4 has 6 pieces that are uncut and factory folded along with the instruction sheet.

45" fabric : 2-3/8" yards
56-60" fabric - 2-1/4" yards

Lattice Detail
Example : Lattice pieces 1" wide and 2-1/2" long with a 1" spacing between them requires 1/4 yard of fabric .

Thread
Shoulder pads with velcro strips
Optional items include lightweight interfacing, ribbon or other trim to use for lattice

Fabric Suggestions:
Lightweight duck, percale, jacket weight rayon, cotton, silk, wool.

Options:
Jacket can be made with or without the lattice work
Collar band may be fully attached or partially sewn to jacket and tied
Contrasting fabric can be used for loose ties
Pockets may be added
